New Publication on Fatigue Delamination in Composites by AnalySwift and Collaborators

AnalySwift is excited to share the latest journal paper by Senior Research Scientist Dr. Liang Zhang and collaborators on machine learning–aided cohesive zone modeling (CZM) for fatigue delamination. The paper was published in the Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures on January 18, 2026.

“The proposed CZM accurately captures high-cycle, mixed-mode fatigue delamination and can be directly calibrated from experimental G–N and crack growth rate data,” said Dr. Zhang. “By integrating machine-learning surrogates into the calibration workflow, the approach reduces the required number of full finite-element simulations by about 90%, delivering major efficiency gains while maintaining accuracy.”

“These advancements are particularly relevant to industries and applications involving composite durability and fatigue life prediction, including aerospace structures, defense systems, automotive composites, wind energy, and other high-performance composite applications,” continued Dr. Zhang.

Collaborators include Dr. Xin Liu, Dr. Su Tian, Dr. Zhenyuan Gao, Dr. Robert A. Haynes, and Dr. Wenbin Yu.
